Earlier this month, Bradesco Bank announced their much anticipated new CEO. In a press release, Octavio de Lazari Junior was announced as the CEO of the company. He will be taking over the position of Bradesco Seguros, one of the most important divisions within Bradesco.
Lazari will be taking over the position from former CEO, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi, who now stands as the chairman of the company. Lazari will be officially instituted to the position of CEO of the company on the 12th of March, which is when the annual shareholders general meeting will be held. Until then, Trabuco will still be performing all the roles of the CEO of the company, along with those of the chairman. Even though there is a lot resting on the shoulders of Trabuco during this period, the executives and board of directors at Bradesco are confident in his abilities in performing his functions and leading the company while it undergoes its change in management.
Bradesco was asked to release a name for the position of CEO of the company one month before the annual shareholders general meeting. They were required to send this to the Central Bank of Brazil and had to fill out all the other requisites for installing the new CEO. Bradesco is one of those companies who believes in firmly upholding tradition in the things that they do. One of these traditions is only electing people to executive positions if they have been working for the company for a considerable amount of time, which is why Lazari was seen as the perfect person for this position.
Octavio de Lazari, who is currently 54 years old has been serving in the company for over fifteen years. Being the CEO of the company was not something that Lazari ever envisioned himself doing. When he was younger, Lazari wanted to be a professional football player and even played for some of the larger teams in the country. However, his father persuaded him to take the test which was offered to people who wanted to start working at Bradesco. Lazari passed the test and was given the job at one of Bradesco’s banking outlets in Sao Paulo. Even though he had a lifelong dream of being a prominent name in football, he knew that this was an opportunity that would help him grow professionally, and which would broaden his horizons.
Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi is also someone who has shared a similar history with Bradesco. He began working with the bank when he was still a teenager as a bank teller at one of Bradesco’s banking outlets. He had to work his way up the ranks if he wanted to reach a notable position in the company, and with that idea in mind, put in a lot of hard work and dedication to his job. After working for the company in several different positions, he ultimately reached a position that would make him one of the most important people at Bradesco. He graduated from University of Sao Paolo.
The changing line of management began when Bradesco’s former chairman, Lazaro de Mello decided to retire at the age of ninety-one. He was someone who had been a part of Bradesco’s history having served as the chairman of the company for twenty-five years. Lazaro de Mello was one of the oldest banking chairmen in the entire world, and decided, after a long and fruitful career, that it was now time to retire and enjoy the golden years of his life. When he retired, Luiz Trabuco was offered the position of chairman of the company. However, since Luiz at the time held the position of CEO, his position thereon fell vacant, which now Lazari is going to fulfill.
